• TracElite pilot deployment in progress at Perum Perhutani KPH Kendal
  • TracElite delivers verifiable back-to-stump traceability for timber movements
  • TracElite enables enhanced stock control and revenue collection
  • TracElite configured to support existing administration data capture and reporting requirements
  • Easy field operation and integration

Perum Perhutani, the principal plantation forestry operation on the island of Java, Indonesia, has begun using TracElite – Always On™ at their KPH Kendal unit as a part of their Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification qualification activities. The Kendal pilot demonstrates TracElite’s online back-to-stump traceability and business process functionality designed to deliver improved revenues.

The pilot deployment covers the entire supply chain from tree inventory mapping through harvesting at KPH Kendal to dispatch from the point of sale from TPK Gambilangu. Benefits from utilizing TracElite’s real time online stock control and timber traceability system are expected to include improvements in timber recovery, a reduction in illegal movements and increases in revenue.

TracElite has been configured to support and integrate with the existing administration at Perum Perhutani. Working with the Tropical Forest Trust to ensure accurate design, the reports generated by the TracElite system map directly onto FLEGT requirements for traceability and to day-to-day management needs. A key output of the pilot is for all reporting requirements to be delivered online by TracElite and for paper based reporting to be replaced.

Helveta Ltd, the system manager of TracElite, store all the data captured online within the TracElite environment, making it accessible to Perhutani, TFT and other stakeholders such as auditors. Training is provided to all user groups and parties involved by Tropical Forest Trust, ensuring a smooth application and integration of the system. The current TracElite deployment in KPH Kendal will be evaluated for extension across all plantation sites following a successful conclusion of the pilot.

Ir. Bambang Risyanto, Administrator/KKPH Perum Perhutani said “TracElite supports our ongoing goal of certification, and provides real-time visibility on timber flows across our organization. TracElite has the potential to significantly improve our stock management, resulting in revenue growth.”

Scott Poynton, Executive Director of Tropical Forest Trust said “The importance of this step by Perhutani cannot be overstated. TracElite offers complete transparency on timber movements, which will significantly boost Perhutani’s credibility in the eyes of its potential customers as it moves towards FSC certification for KPH Kendal. The fact that TracElite should also deliver bottom-line business benefits is key to making traceability a business success at Perhutani.”

Patrick Newton, Chief Executive Officer of Helveta said “As one of the largest forestry operations in Indonesia, this is a significant step both for Perhutani and for the TracElite system. TracElite’s ability to deliver both sustainability and business benefits sends a positive message to the market, that ‘good wood is good business’”.

About Tropical Forest Trust

The Tropical Forest Trust (TFT – www.tropicalforesttrust.com) is working to transform the international trade in tropical hardwood into an agent for forest conservation. The TFT was established with the specific purpose of fulfilling two prerequisites: (a) raised awareness of what forest certification involves and what its multiple advantages are, and (b) practical engagement in partnership with forest managers to help them progress step by step to FSC certification.

The TFT links the supply chain from producing members through supplying members – who manufacture and/or trade in wood products that are sold to buying members.
